Scrat Tales wound up being Blue Sky Studios’ swan song, but it began as a stress test for a new production pipeline we were developing as we transitioned from our in-house renderer CGI Studio to Pixar’s Renderman and a USD workflow. The art team was myself and set designer Jon Townley, character designer Jason Sadler, and Hye Sung Park, Ron Defelice and José Manuel Oli contributing their color skills. All six shorts were made in a seven month period and the last month of that was after Disney announced they would be shutting down Blue Sky. Our crew was all heart and they truly made these something special.
